Every major North Texas hail event since 2010
Between 2010 and 2026, Tarrant County recorded 109 days with hail of one inch or larger — more than any other county in Texas. Denton County recorded 86, Wise 57 and Parker 56. March through June accounts for 87% of all hail reports in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, with April alone at 32.8%. The largest verified stone in the period was 5.90 inches, on June 15, 2023 in Collin and Denton counties. Texas has led the United States in major hail events for ten consecutive years.
Every storm date, hail size and report count on this page is computed from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Events Database — 2,938 individual hail reports across ten DFW-area counties. It is public data. I am publishing it because I have not found anyone else in this market who has, and because if you are trying to remember which storm hit your car, the date is usually the thing you are missing.

When it happens
All 2,938 DFW-area hail reports by month, 2010–2026. March to June is 87% of the total; April alone is 32.8%.
Why the timing matters to you
Hail season here is short and violent. If you are going to lose a windshield or a hood, it is overwhelmingly likely to be between March and June, and April is the worst single month by a wide margin.
That has two practical consequences. First, any policy change you are considering — adding comprehensive, adjusting a deductible, adding rental reimbursement — is worth having done by February, not discussed in May. Second, the good paintless dent repair technicians in North Texas are booked solid within days of a major storm. Being early in that queue is worth real time.
The fall bump is small but real: September and October together are just under 6% of reports. October 26, 2013 put 1.75 inch hail into Southlake.

A claim most hail companies make that is not true
You will see North Texas described as being in “Hail Alley.” It is not, as NOAA defines the term — that is the Nebraska, Colorado and Wyoming junction, averaging seven to nine hail days a year. The honest version is better anyway: Tarrant County’s severe-hail day count is comparable to it, which is a genuinely striking thing to be able to say about a metropolitan county — with the honest asterisk that NOAA's hail-day count includes hail of any size while this one counts an inch or larger, and a county with two million people files more storm reports than an empty one.
